Oral Surgery

s-smile2.jpgOral surgery, also called orthognathic surgery, may be used to correct abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. These problems often cause difficulty with chewing, talking, sleeping and other routine activities. Oral surgery corrects these problems and, in conjunction with orthodontic treatment, will improve the overall appearance of the facial profile.

Dr. Egger uses the latest digital imaging technology to demonstrate the functional and aesthetic benefits that can be achieved with oral surgery. She uses computerized treatment planning which helps to minimize treatment time and recovery period while improving results. During the surgery, state-of-the-art materials, such as titanium plates and miniature screws, are used to provide stability, strength and the desired outcome.

Oral surgery is only necessary when orthodontic treatment alone cannot correct a problem. If your problems can benefit from surgery, Dr. Egger will discuss your options during your initial consultation.
